XIAMEN PCG PARTICIPATES IN INAUGURAL FLIGHT OF RE-OPENED XIAMEN AIR LINES JINJIANG-CEBU ROUTE

XIAMEN, 09 April 2026-The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen warmly informs the public of its participation in the inaugural flight of the re-opened Xiamen Airlines Jinjiang-Cebu route on 29 March 2026. Consul General Winston Dean S. Almeda represented Xiamen PCG and was on board the Xiamen Airlines debut flight to Cebu. He joined officials from Xiamen Airlines, other guests, and a sizeable number of airline passengers.

Upon landing in Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MC1A), Consul General Almeda and Xiamen Airlines officials immediately joined the launch program organized by the Cebu Provincial Government and held at the boarding gate of the reverse flight from Cebu to Jinjiang. Cebu Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro led the launch program and was joined by senior officials from Cebu province, Chinese Consul General Zhang Zhen, the Department of Tourism, MCIA officials, businessmen, and other guests. Following the launch program, the Department of Tourism hosted a dinner for the officials and guests at Maribago Bluewaters Resort. Both activities were opportunities for the officials and guests in attendance to discuss ways to deepen the interaction in civil aviation and tourism between Philippines and China.

While still in Cebu, Consul General Almeda took the opportunity to meet with DOT officials to discuss related matters. He also joined officials of Xiamen Airlines in a courtesy call on Gov. Baricuatro at the Cebu Provincial Capitol. END

“TALAKAYAN: ONLINE USAPANG PANGKALUSUGAN” ORGANIZED BY XIAMEN PCG

XIAMEN 28 March 2026 - The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully hosted an online health discussion entitled “Talakayan: Online Usapang Pangkalusugan,”  via the Tencent platform.

The activity started with recorded Welcome Remarks by Consul General Winston Dean S. Almeda. The main feature of the activity was the discussion by Dr. Christopher G. Hemady, a Family Medicine physician and the Medical Director of One Shang Health Care Consultancy International Medical Care. His comprehensive and engaging lecture covered a wide range of topics, such as women’s health, dealing with emergency situations, sexually transmitted diseases, effective communication despite language barriers, and mental health challenges. Dr. Hemady’s expertise, coupled with his warm, approachable, and engaging manner and the community’s high level of trust in the doctor gave way to an open forum that extended the program by an additional 30 minutes to accommodate the numerous questions of the participants. Indeed, organizers now see the need for regular online health discussions among Filipinos in Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. Recorded Closing Remarks by Consul Charleson Hermosura was shown to cap the activity.

3Women’s concerns were likewise discussed, in line with the celebration of the International Women’s Month

The online health discussion is part of the Consulate’s wellness program for its personnel and community, and commemorates both the National Women’s Month and International Women’s Month twin celebrations this March. Thirty-two women and 11 men from Fujian and Jiangxi provinces participated in the activity, reflecting the Filipino community’s strong interest in accessible and reliable health education without the barriers of travel, cost, or time. XIAMEN, 24 March 2026 – Ms. Yang Shuanghua, General Manager (GM) of Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport (JJN), called on Consul General Winston Dean S. Almeda on 24 March 2026. She was joined by Mr. Hu Bin, General Manager of Xiamen Airlines Quanzhou Branch; Mr. Wang Xueyi, QJIA Marketing Manager; Mr. Che Jiaying, Deputy Manager of the JJN Transportation Service Department; Mr. Fang Haishan, General Manager of Quanzhou Airport Logistics Company; and Ms. Cai Xinzhu, Assistant, Route and Flight Section, JJN Marketing Department.

During the call GM Yang invited Consul General Almeda to attend the inaugural program of the Quanzhou – Cebu flight, which will depart from JJN on 29 March 2026. She remarked that the resumption of the said flight will provide an opportunity for Philippines and China to enhance cooperation on culture, tourism, trade, and investment. She also mentioned that they will meet with tourism and airport officials in Cebu during the trip. In the said meetings, they intend to promote Quanzhou’s culture and tourism, and to also discuss cargo-related business such as the importation of fruits and seafood from Cebu.

GM Hu of Xiamen Airlines Quanzhou Branch remarked that Xiamen Air is committed to people-to-people exchanges, noting that previously there were many flights to Cebu and Davao. He mentioned that Xiamen Air plans to open the Hangzhou – Manila flight and expressed the hope that the culture and tourism exchanges between the Philippines and China will revert to the same level as that of previous years.

Consul General Almeda expressed appreciation for their visit. He remarked that the Philippines is very keen to intensify exchanges with China. Consul General Almeda expressed the hope that more flight routes will be opened to further enhance connectivity and boost culture, tourism, people-to-people, and business exchanges between the Philippines and China. XIAMEN, 17 March 2026 - The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, in cooperation with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Guangzhou (PTIC-GZ) and the International Cooperation Center (ICC) of Jimei District, organized the “Building Cross-border Business with Jimei: An Introductory Session for Investing in the Philippines: Jimei-Philippine Special Session for Enterprise Overseas Investment Empowerment” held at the Jimei International Cooperation Center on 17 March 2026.

Mr. Ni Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Jimei District Committee and District Mayor of Jimei, and Ms. Xie Ming, Director of Jimei District Bureau of Commerce participated in the event.

In his welcoming remarks, Consul General Winston Dean S. Almeda underscored the event as a manifestation of the Consulate’s commitment to deepening Philippines and China relations in the areass of trade and investments. He underscored the importance of organizing business briefings that will equip potential investor companies to have a better understanding of the Philippine business environment, regulations and processes, which are critical in overseas expansion.

Jimei District Mayor Ni stated that the business briefing is a high-quality platform of information which provides insights from the Consulate and PTIC-GZ on business development, industrial opportunity, and policy incentives in the Philippines which can provide the companies with clear direction in their journey towards overseas expansion.

Approximately 83 guests from around 50 companies participated in the event. The investment seminar is the second business briefing held by the Consulate, in partnership with the PTIC-GZ.
