PCG XIAMEN ORGANIZES BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) TRAINING

The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen organized a Basic Life Support (BLS) training session for its personnel and dependents at Kempinski Hotel Xiamen on 26 February 2022.
The training, conducted by the medical staff of One Shang Health Care Consultancy led by its Medical Director, Dr. Christopher “Chris” Hemady, equipped the participants with basic life support skills to handle medical emergencies that almost commonly occur.
The participants were taken through different emergency situations like relief of foreign body airway obstruction (choking), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) including high quality chest compressions and effective rescue breaths for adults, children and infants, as well as stroke recognition.
Dr. Hemady also introduced ventilations using a barrier device and bag-valve-mask and the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) which the participants experienced firsthand during practical demonstrations.
Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena, who actively participated in the activity, expressed her appreciation to Dr. Hemady, the training staff and all the participants for the successful conduct of the training. She underscored that such training sessions are beneficial for both the training team/staff and the participants.
The BLS training is a vital life skill that provides participants with the knowledge of dealing with medical emergencies or disasters, which can provide prompt and appropriate action until definitive medical assistance is available.
