Consul General Winston Dean Almeda and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade - Xiamen Committee Vice Chairman Hongqi Zhu conclude their meeting.
XIAMEN 22 January 2026 - The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen (Xiamen PCG), led by Consul General Winston Dean S. Almeda, met with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade - Xiamen Committee (CCPIT Xiamen) Vice Chairman Hongqi Zhu.
The meeting took place at CCPIT Xiamen’s office shortly before the first Xiamen Investment Seminar, a collaboration between Xiamen PCG, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Guangzhou (PTIC Guangzhou, which covers Xiamen), and CCPIT Xiamen that aims to provide companies in Xiamen updated information on investing in the Philippines.

During the meeting, Vice Chairman Zhu mentioned the total trade volume between the Philippines and China in 2025, which reached RMB25.4 billion (USD3.65 billion), a year-on-year increase of 32%. Consul General Almeda and Vice Chairman Zhu lauded these numbers, with the former noting that PH looks forward to further expanding trade and investment exchanges with Xiamen. They agreed that the recently announced 14-day visa free entry for Chinese nationals provides a conducive backdrop for enhanced exchanges in the foreseeable future. END
