XIAMEN 27 February 2026 – Fuzhou Foreign Affairs Office Director General (DG) Ye Xiaolan visited the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen on 27 February 2026. She was accompanied by Mr. Lin Chenhui, Level 4 Researcher (Deputy Director General Level); Ms. Han Zhumei, Director of the Friendship Association Secretariat Division; and Ms. Chen Yao, Staff Member of the International Exchanges Division.
During the visit, DG Ye conveyed her greetings for the Chinese Lunar New Year and the 31st Anniversary of the Establishment of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen. She also underscored Fuzhou’s accomplishments under the 14th Five-Year Plan, making the city China’s 8th in terms of per capita GDP in 2024. Fuzhou’s GDP reached 1.51 trillion yuan in 2025. Fuzhou’s 6 industrial clusters with an output of more than 100 billion yuan (textile and chemical fiber, light industry and food, machinery manufacturing, metallurgy and building materials, chemical new materials, and electric power energy) and four (4) major industrial parks (Changle Economic Development Zone, Fuqing Rongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Fuqing Jiangyin Economic Development Zone, and Fuzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone), each with an output of 100 billion yuan, contributed to its growth.
Consul General Almeda expressed appreciation for DG Ye’s visit. He proposed the opening of direct flights between Manila and Fuzhou, participation of the Philippines in Fuzhou’s Dragon Boat Festival, holding of a business investment seminar in Fuzhou, and cooperation in the animation and gaming industry as possible areas of cooperation to boost not only people-to-people and cultural exchanges, but also in economy, trade, and investment.
