XIAMEN, 27 February 2026 – Director General Yang Shangpang  (DG) of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Zhangzhou Municipal People’s Government called on Consul General Winston Dean S. Almeda on 27 February 2026. DG Yang was joined by Mr. Lin Zhedong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Division; Ms. Lu Meilian, Director of the Consular and Cultural Division; and Ms. Lin Lihong, Director of Overseas Travel Administration Division.

DG Yang conveyed his Greetings for the Chinese Lunar New Year during the visit. He mentioned the long-standing relations between the Philippines and China, and expressed the hope of continuing closer cooperation between the two sides. The Director General raised the possibility of economic and trade missions to the Philippines as well as marine aquaculture as possible areas for cooperation. DG Yang invited the Consulate to visit Zhangzhou, and to participate in the Culture and Tourism Festival to be held on 17 April 2026 in the same city.

Consul General Almeda agreed with DG Yang on the importance of fostering closer relations and bringing peoples closer. The Consul General expressed appreciation for the invitation to visit Zhangzhou, and participate in the Culture and Tourism Festival. END
