XIAMEN, 13 March 2026 – Consul General Winston Dean S. Almeda met with Ms. Liu Wenrong, Director of the Liaison Department of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Fujian Sub-Council (CCPIT Fujian) on 13 March 2026. Director Liu was joined by Mr. Li Wenchang and Ms. Lin Ping, staff members of CCPIT Fujian.
During the meeting, Consul General discussed the rescheduling of the proposed business briefing in Fuzhou from April 2026 to the latter half of this year. He also mentioned the resumption of Xiamen Air’s Cebu-Jinjiang flight and requested CCPIT Fujian’s assistance in touching base with the animation and gaming industry in Fujian Province.
Director Liu expressed appreciation for the Consul General’s visit to CCPIT Fujian. She agreed to the proposal of rescheduling the proposed business briefing in Fuzhou, noting that this would give both sides enough time to plan and prepare for the event. Director Liu mentioned the possibility of also holding a business briefing in the Philippines and organizing a business delegation to the Philippines, considering that the Philippines is one of the preferred countries that companies in Fuzhou look into for overseas investment/expansion. She also suggested expanding cooperation in other regions in Fujian, such as Quanzhou and Ningde, where Chinese battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) is based.
Consul General Almeda stated that the Consulate also plans to not only engage with Fuzhou but other areas within Fujian. He remarked that with the visa-free entry policy for Chinese nationals, the Consulate intends to promote not only business cooperation but also tourism cooperation. He underscored the need to promote two-way exchanges that would not only boost people-to-people exchanges but also cooperation in economy, trade, and investment. Finally, Consul General Almeda expressed the hope of having Cebu-Xiamen and Manila-Fuzhou flight routes in the near future. END
