Over 160 Filipinos from across Fujian Province trooped to the new chancery of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen on 6 April 2024 to attend “Tuloy Po Kayo! Kamustahan at Kasiyahan sa Ating Bagong Tahanan.”
Adorned in their best Filipiniana, the Filipino community sang the Philippine National Anthem for the first time at the new chancery, which boasts a beautiful Filipino-inspired architecture complete with capiz-inspired lattice windows, limestone walls, wooden balustrades, Filipino wood carving and weaving designs, and a Kawit-inspired French balcony.
In her opening remarks, Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena said, “We welcome our kababayans with great pride to our new home in Xiamen which is now one of the symbols of the Philippines in China.”
The day was filled with multiple activities including a flag ceremony, ribbon cutting ceremony, “Kamustahan sa Konsulado”, a Filipino buffet lunch, and an afternoon of music, games and raffle prizes organized by the Filipino Association in Xiamen (FAX).
