ANNOUNCEMENT

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the death toll resulting from super typhoon Yolanda (International Name: Haiyan) as of 12 November 2013 has risen to 1,774, injured people were tallied at 2,487 while 82 are considered missing. Statistics from the NDRRMC showed that a total of 6,937,229 persons were affected in 7,488 barangays 39 provinces across Regions IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, X, XI and CARAGA.

Total cost of assistance provided by the DSWD, DOH, LGUs, and NGOs to the affected areas is at PhP30,675,776.21. The provinces of Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Palawan were declared under the State of National Calamity.

In the wake of the devastation and loss of lives, homes and property caused by the typhoon, the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen would like to inform the public that relief operations and collection of donations by government instrumentalities and several NGOs are ongoing.
