Fujian Week Manila Poster To be posted in ANNOUNCEMENT

Philippine-Fujian Week is a pioneering initiative of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen under its economic and cultural diplomacy program for 2017 and beyond that would further enhance friendship, understanding and cooperation between the Philippines and Fujian on one hand, and on the other between the Philippines and China. The multi-event undertaking seeks to promote Fujian province, regarded as the ancestral roots of 90% of overseas Chinese in the Philippines as well as generate awareness among the general public, especially the Filipino youth, about the close bonds of history, kinship, trade and culture between our two countries and people.

The Week will be highlighted by the Photo-Painting-Calligraphy Exhibit on “The Beauty of Fujian” at the DFA Main Lobby from 30 May - 06 June 2017 and a Fujian Food Festival at the Century Park Hotel from 01 - 09 June 2017.

The Exhibit showcases the first-hand impressions of different locations in Fujian province documented by “Foto-Grupo”, a group of Filipino photo hobbyists based in Fujian organized by the Consulate General as well as the painting and calligraphy artworks of acclaimed Fujian artist-calligrapher, Mr. Bai Lei.

The photo collection was earlier exhibited in Xiamen last March in a shopping mall. The Consulate General intends to tour the photo collection in the Philippines as well as in Fujian in 2017 and beyond.

Future activities of Philippine-Fujian Week will be expanded to cover economic diplomacy events.
