The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen joins in the global campaign for national consciousness on anti-violence against women.  This year's theme:

"END VAW NOW!  IT'S OUR DUTY!"

calls for an increase in the support and commitment of duty holders particularly government agencies in eliminating violence against women and children.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10398 approved on 19 March 2013, November 25 of every year was declared as "National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children." Furthermore, the global campaign against gender-based violence was strengthened with the Presidential Proclamation 1172, extending the Philippine campaign to 18 days including December 12, which is known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Day.

The objectives of the campaign are the following:

1.    To increase support and commitment of duty holders, at the national and local level, in eliminating violence against women;

2.    To sustain and improve policies, laws and mechanisms addressing VAW; and

3.    To forge partnerships among stakeholders in addressing VAW.
