Officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General attended a banquet to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival on 17 January 2012 at the Yeohwa Mandarin Hotel. The reception, which was hosted by Vice Mayor Kang Tao and Xiamen Foreign Affairs Office Director General Hong Chenzong, was attended by the three resident Consulates General of the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand and other city officials.
Before the dinner, Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz and the Consuls General of Singapore, Mr Loh Tuck Keat and. Mr Jesada Chavarnbhark of Thailand paid a call on Vice Mayor Kang.
The meeting was followed by a banquet, wherein everyone enjoyed song and dance performances by Xiamen FAO, the officers and staff of the three Consulates General, the Consuls General and evening's hosts Vice Mayor Kang and FAO DG Hong.
Spring Festival, more commonly known as the Chinese Lunar New Year is truly an exceptionally happy and festive occasion for the Chinese, akin to how Filipinos and other Christians feel about the Yuletide season. END.
