New PCG Xiamen’s Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena paid a courtesy call on the head of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen, Consul General Pirawat Atsavapranee on 24 November 2021.
Consul General Atsavapranee, who assumed Office in Xiamen in July 2020, shared his experiences as head of one of the three Consulates General in Xiamen. He talked about the economic activities of his Consulate General which was obviously limited by the CoVid situation in the world. He also mentioned the difficulty experienced by Thai students who cannot return to China to continue with their studies. The Thai Consul General said that he looks forward to working with the Philippine Consul General, especially on activities which would further bilateral relations between the Philippines and Thailand.
Both Consuls General have discussed the CoVid-19 situation in both countries and the measures being done to improve these situations. They have likewise discussed the possibility of a collaborative project, primarily cultural, among the three (3) ASEAN consulates general in Xiamen.
