Xiamen, 23 November 2021 --- Filipinos in Xiamen and surrounding cities, mostly teachers and business executives of multinationals in Xiamen warmly welcomed Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena on 21 November 2021 in a Meet-and-Greet Opportunity organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.

Consul General Mendoza-Oblena took the opportunity to thank the Filipinos in Xiamen for their support and cooperation with the Consulate General in Xiamen and conveyed her desire for continuing and developing a fruitful collaboration. CG Mendoza-Oblena conveyed the assurance that the PCG will assist and promote the welfare of Filipinos in Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. While introducing PCG Xiamen personnel and the members of their families one-by-one, the Consul General provided a description of the personnel’s duties and responsibilities at the Consulate General and gave the Filipinos present a glimpse of what they could expect from the Consulate in the next few months – all in the interest of providing better assistance and services. 

Attendees included administrators and teachers of the first international school in Xiamen and an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School - the Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) which was established in 1993, and officers and members of the Filipino Association in Xiamen (FAX) – established in 1997 and well-known for their humanitarian works and their much-awaited Christmas Parties (pre-pandemic) were also present.  Executives from Eton, SM and Robinson’s Xiamen; the Medical Director of One Shang Consultancy Care, the owners of Best-to-Grill restaurant and members of the PiTikers, a group of Filipino and Chinese photography-enthusiasts were likewise in attendance.

Filipino-Chinese Marc Tan catered well-loved Filipino cuisine for the event.
