On the occasion of her participation to the Red Tour organized by Fujian and Jiangxi Provincial Governments, Consul General Maria Antonina Mendoza-Oblena arrived a day earlier in Jiangxi to visit the Liwayway Oishi Food and Packaging Plant in De’An County, City of Jiujiang and to meet with Filipinos in Jiangxi Province.

The visit to Oishi began with the CG’s meeting with the 8/11 (3 were on night shift) Filipino supervisors (for 500 employees) of Jiangxi Oishi   Manager Neil Escalderon rendered a briefing about the history and ongoing operations of Oishi in China.  From 1993 to the presents, Oishi has become of the well-known brands and star enterprise in China.

The Filipino supervisors, who have usually been in China for an average of 10 years came from and were trained at the Oishi Plant in the Philippines, mainly from Cavite.

The briefing was followed by a tour of the food and packaging plants with Senior Manager Giovanni Hernandez-Dy carefully explaining the processes involved in food production and packaging preparation.  The Food and Packaging Plants were immaculate, well-maintained and employs state-of-art, high technology machines.

After the visit to Oishi, Consul General Mendoza-Oblena had a dinner meeting with Filipinos from all over Jiangxi, majority of whom are teachers.  One attendee is a lady engineer. The Filipinos thanked the new Consul General for having visited them and expressed their appreciation for the continued care and support that PCG Xiamen is extending to them.  

CG Oblena gave a short briefing about the Consulate General’s functions and operations and provided a bird’s eye view of what they can expect from the Consulate General in the coming months.  She reiterated the PCG’s readiness to assist Filipinos with concerns, especially in the Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, and the commitment to serve the country with the interests of its citizens on hand.
