PCG XIAMEN ATTENDS THE 2022 QIAOJIALE-FUJIAN PROVINCE OVERSEAS CHINESE FOOD AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL

PCG Xiamen representatives attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 QiaoJiale-Fujian Province Overseas Chinese Food Cultural Festival held on 28 April 2022 at Xiamen Zhuba Nanyang (Southeast Asia) Style Tourist Resort, Tong'an District, Xiamen City.

Xiamen Zhuba Nanyang Style Tourist Resort covers 233 hectares of arable land, 266 hectares of orchards and two reservoirs.  Since the 1960s, more than 5000 returned overseas Chinese from the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, and Malaysia have resettled in Zhuba, and they brought back dances, delicacies, colorful costumes, and local customs from Southeast Asia which are now featured in the resort.

During the opening ceremony, guests were treated to Southeast Asian dance and musical performances by the descendants of the returned overseas Chinese. A Nanyang Food Bazaar was also set up, which ran until 04 May 2022. PCG Xiamen representatives were also given an exclusive food tasting of Southeast Asian delicacies, some of which were very similar to the Philippines’ biko, sapin-sapin, and suman.
