Xiamen, 18 June 2022 --- With Philippine Consul General to Xiamen Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena as pianist, and world-renowned classical artist Ms. Jing Yang as violist, a livestreaming concert entitled “Harmony: Philippines-China Friendship in Love Songs and Lullabies” held on Saturday, 18 June 2022, did not only exhibit the musical talents of Chinese and Filipino artists but also served as a testament to the long standing cultural and historical ties, as well as the centuries-old kinship between the two neighbors.

Livestreamed live from Feijin Piano Hall of the City of Xiamen and shown through such Chinese platforms as DouYin, Weibo, and Weixin, as well as in the Zoom platform, the concert reached to a wide variety of audience in Mainland China, in the Philippines, and elsewhere in the world to demonstrate “ties that bind” in the promotion of harmony, peace, and understanding.

The live streaming concert a collaborative venture at its best was viewed by 22000 on Weibo, 6052 on Weixin/Wechat , 8096 on Douyin/Tiktok, and 52 on Zoom.

Consul General Mendoza-Oblena finished cum laude of her two Bachelor of Music degrees (Music Education and Piano) from the Conservatory of Music of the University of Santos Tomas.  

Ms. Jing Yang, considered one of the top three most famous musicians from the famous Gulangyu Island is an international competition winner and has performed in over 50 countries.  A founder of Studio Vio and Sunlight Ensemble, she gained two (2) master’s degrees – one from the Royal Academy of Music in London and another from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.  She has recorded with Maroon 5’s bassist Mickey Madden, performed in UNESCO's world heritage celebration, premiered “Peace Concerto” for BRICS summit and recorded her first CD album “Kulangsu: Through the Strings of Time”

The Concert featured the following Filipino, Chinese and classical pieces: “Noturno, based on Caturog na Nonoy”, “Nahan”, “Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin (The Moon Represents My Heart)”, “Waves of Gulangyu”,Salut d’Amour” ,and “ Nocturne, Op. 9 No. 1”.
