Jiangxi, 26 June 2022 ---  In a simple but meaningful celebration of the 124th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence held at the Jiangxi State Guesthouse on Sunday, 26 June 2022, Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena addressed Filipinos in Jiangxi and reiterated the Consulate General’s commitment to serve and protect Filipino nationals but also reminded them of the obligation to observe the laws of the host country.

Consul General Mendoza-Oblena apprised the assembly of the achievements and future plans of the Consulate General.  She explained the future plans of the Consulate General, particularly in the area of the delivery of consular services in order to serve well the interests of Filipino nationals in Fujian and Jiangxi provinces.

The Filipinos present, composed of Oishi personnel led by its Senior Manager Giovanni Hernandez-Dy, by teachers, and by an engineer in Jiangxi expressed their appreciation to PCG Xiamen for organizing the Independence Day celebration, one of the many steps which the Consulate General undertakes to make Filipinos in Jiangxi feel “remembered”.   Some commented that now, more than ever, they have felt ‘very close” to the Consulate.

The attendees sang the Philippine National Anthem a capella and listened with great interest to the Independence Day messages of DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin and President Rodrigo Roa-Duterte.

Mr. Hernandez-Dy conveyed the warm greetings of Oishi/Liwayway President Larry Chan who cannot attend the occasion in view of matters arising from the recent Covid-related Shanghai lockdown.

PCG personnel responded to queries of the attendees which mainly involved renewal of contracts and the process of returning to China.  Some of them also applied for a Consulate ID being provided by PCG Xiamen.
