Undersecretary Jesus S. Domingo, at his meeting with Shishi Vice Mayor XU Zilin on 18 July 2023, conveyed the Philippines’ desire to improve its visa system for more people-to-people, local government-to-local government, and business-to-business exchanges between the Philippines and Fujian Province, especially Shishi, home to majority of the 200,000 overseas Chinese in the Philippines.

The Vice-Mayor welcomed this development and said that it will surely contribute to furthering relations and developing more business opportunities. He also briefed the Undersecretary on the top leading industries of Shishi City – textiles, machinery manufacturing, and medicine/pharmaceuticals; as well as its tourism and logistics service industries.
