On 19 July 2023, Undersecretary Jesus S. Domingo paid his respects to Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal as he laid a wreath at the 18.61 feet Rizal monument in Jinjiang City – the largest in the world outside the Philippines. The shrine was erected as a tribute to Dr. Rizal’s Chinese ancestral lineage.

Undersecretary Domingo was joined by Philippine Consul General to Xiamen, Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena and officers and members of the Philippine Fujian General Business Association Inc. (PFGBAI). The event was witnessed by government officials from Jinjiang and Shishi, led by Quanzhou City Vice Mayor Ms. Wang Zhihong.

The Undersecretary also expressed his desire to establish a Knights of Rizal Chapter in the Fujian area.
