DFA Undersecretary Jesus Domingo met with Xiamen Vice Mayor Zhuang Rongliang at the SeaView Resort on 20 July 2023 and engaged in an extensive discussion of how China (Xiamen) and the Philippines can further improve their already warm and cordial relations.

Vice Mayor Zhuang provided the Undersecretary with a comprehensive background of Xiamen and conveyed that, in line with China’s development paradigm, Xiamen is willing to extend collaboration on all fronts, accept more people-to-people exchanges, business-to-business cooperation, and sister-city collaboration with the Philippines.

Undersecretary Domingo extended his appreciation of developments in Xiamen and in Fujian Province and thanked the Vice Mayor for taking care of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, including Filipino businesses and nationals. He also said that he looks forward to stronger collaboration, especially with the support of returned overseas Chinese who have become global ambassadors in their own right.
