Xiamen --- Around fifty (50) OFWs, mostly HSWs, from Xiamen and nearby areas attended the 5th Kamustahan organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen in December 2023 at the Xiamen Marco Polo Hotel.
The 5th Kamustahan featured presentations of Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena on “The HSW situation in Cina and the Consulate’s role”; by OUMWA Special Assistant Charleson Hermosura on “OUMWA-DFA and DMW”, by One Shang Health Care Consultancy Medical Director Dr. Chris Hemady; and by Xiamen Kangda lawyers on “China’s Laws for Aliens: How to Protect Victims of Domestic Abuse”.
The Kamustahan was initiated by PCG Xiamen in 2021 to serve as a forum for information sharing and exchange. Post hopes that by informing HSWs on the subjects covered, they would be better prepared for any eventuality pertaining to their personal and professional situations.
The event was also held in observance of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women in December.
