XIAMEN 8 September 2024 - Ceramics take center stage in Fujian Province, China during the 2024 Dehua International Ceramic Culture Week and the 5th Dehua International Ceramic Expo in Dehua County, Quanzhou City, Fujian.
Rich in clay material kaolin, Dehua is world famous for its ceramic products. Dehua ceramics have been used as gifts during the 2017 BRICS Summit in Xiamen. They have also been used to create one of the licensed products of the recently concluded Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Two sites of Dehua’s kilns are part of several sites of Quanzhou that made it to the UNESCO World Heritage List for their collective role in linking maritime trade with inland trade. The city likewise made it to the list for being a commercial throughout the centuries that is especially known for products such as ceramics.

The Opening Ceremony of the twin events was held at the Multi Functional Hall of the Dehua Convention and Exhibition Center. Officials at the provincial, city, and county levels, members of the diplomatic community based in Beijing and Xiamen, and agents and representatives of the Chinese ceramics industry and foreign ceramics firms graced the event. They later explored the expo, which highlighted ceramics products from Dehua. Ceramic products from Jingdezhen in Jiangxi province, Germany, Russia, and England. END
