PHILCONGEN XIAMEN CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH

In celebration of the 2014 International Women’s Month in March 2014, the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen on 21 March 2014 organized the screening of “Paghahanda sa Kinabukasan Financial Learning Campaign (FLC) for Overseas Filipinos and their Beneficiaries” from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

The FLC aims to promote the importance of financial planning by discussing with overseas Filipinos and their beneficiaries productive uses of their remittances through saving, investment in financial instruments, and entrepreneurship.

Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores also discussed the importance of saving and properly investing hard-earned money and about the importance of women empowerment to the audience composed of Filipino teachers from the Manila-Xiamen International School, Filipino and foreign students from Xiamen University, as well as officers and staff of the Consulate General and their family members.

An added feature was the showing of the indie film Mater Dolorosa directed by Adolf Alix, Jr., which depicts a mother who showed unconditional love for her children, protect the family’s home, and who would do anything to protect her family from any adversity.
