THE PHILIPPINES PARTICIPATES IN THE INTERNATIONAL FISHERIES FORUM IN FUZHOU

Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores represented the Philippines in the recently concluded 9th Fuzhou International Fisheries Expo (FIFE) held from 22 to 24 October 2014 at the Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center.

 

The event was attended by dignitaries from ASEAN member countries, Africa and Europe. The Opening Ceremony, included a guided tour of miniature replicas of the infrastructure facilities of the fisheries industry of Fujian province as well as the Fujian province’s historical and current role in the maritime development of China.

 

ConGen Flores was invited as one of the resource speakers in the China-ASEAN International Fisheries Cooperation Roundtable with the theme “Building a Pivot City in Maritime Silk Road and Deepening Fishery Exchanges and Cooperation where he made a presentation on a) the Philippine fisheries sector and fisheries trade; b) regional and global efforts to protect the marine environment as well as maritime issues, specifically the upholding of the rule of law, particularly the UNCLOS.

 

The other Philippine participant was Mrs. Lolita Y. Ty, President of the Philippine Tropical Fish Association, representing the private sector involved in commercial activities for tropical fish, fish farming and aquaculture industries. END
