The Philippine Consulate General announces that it successfully launched its photo exhibition entitled “It’s More Fun in the Philippines: Fujian Impressions” on 15 October 2014 at the China International Travel Service (CITS) Gallery in Xiamen City. The exhibition is a joint collaboration of PCG Xiamen, Philippine Tourism Office (PTO)-Shanghai, China International Travel Services (CITS)-Xiamen and Misibis Bay Resort under the auspices of the year of Friendly Exchanges (YFE).

The exhibition featured of 30 photographs taken by the members of the Fujian media during their familiarization tour of Albay province in March this year, including those from Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Shishi and Jinjiang. The launching was attended by 70 guests, including local government officials from Xiamen, Quanzhou, Shishi and Fuzhou Foreign Affairs Office (FAO), travel and tour operators from Fujian Province, media representatives, Filipino and Chinese private sector contacts, and Filipino Community leaders.

In his welcome remarks, ConGen Flores said the photo exhibit serves to promote the Philippines in general, and in particular, Albay and Misibis Bay Resort as a tourist destination for the Chinese market as well as a good vehicle to strengthen friendship and understanding between the Philippines and Fujian Province.

CITS was commended for its efforts in launching direct flights between Xiamen and Legazpi and embarking on package tours.

The photo exhibition will go on a road tour of China and the Philippines, including another public venue in Xiamen, Fuzhou and Shanghai. Misibis Bay Resort will also have its own exhibition of the same photos in 2015.

This photo exhibit forms part of the Consulate General’s economic and socio-cultural diplomacy thrusts for 2014 under the YFE program promoting the Philippines as a major destination for Chinese tourists, particularly from the Fujian and Jiangxi Provinces. END
