PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS CONCERT AWES FUZHOU CITY AUDIENCE
The University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers at the Concert Hall of Fujian Grand Theater in Fuzhou City
The University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers (MADZ) held its first ever major performance in Fujian Province, China on 05 June 2015 with a captivating concert held at the Concert Hall, Fujian Grand Theater in Fuzhou City. The concert was attended by 500 guests including government officials from Fujian province, business leaders, local arts and music enthusiasts and members of the Filipino community in Fujian province.
Consul General Julius Caesar Flores described the MADZ as “living treasures of Filipino musical artistry and talent” giving pride and honor to the country and the Filipino people wherever they perform. He underscored the vital role of the MADZ as Ambassadors of Goodwill in promoting Philippine arts and culture to worldwide audiences as well as epitomizing the musical artistry and talents of Filipinos.
Fujian Province officials led by Director General of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) Song Kening and Senior Counselor/Deputy Director General of Fujian Provincial FAO Madam Zhu Yan Li expressed appreciation for the Consulate General’s efforts to bring the MADZ to Fujian province to highlight the milestone events it is celebrating this year as well as promote cultural exchanges between the Philippines and Fujian province. The Fujian officials also expressed great satisfaction for the stunning performance of the MADZ.
The MADZ are on their Concert Tour in China from 30 May to 11 June 2015 as part of the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and China. The Fujian leg of their Tour which was from 04 to 08 June 2015, also forms part of the Consulate General’s 2015 commemorative activities including the 117th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence and the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Consulate General in Xiamen.
