Xiamen PCG Participates in Graduation of PNP Officials Mandarin Course

The 10th Foreign Government Officials Chinese Class held its graduation ceremony on 26 July 2015 at the HuaQiao University in Xiamen City. A total of 100 police officers from the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia attended the 10-month (12 September 2014 to 25 July 2015) Chinese language course.

 

The Philippines was represented by five (5) Philippine National Police (PNP) officers namely, Police Chief Inspector Michael Guerrero of PNP Camp Crame Intelligence Unit, Police Senior Inspector Ramoncelio Sawan of PNP Directorate for Human Resource Management and Doctrine Development, Police Senior Inspector Joven P. Geron of PNP Cyber Crime Division, Police Senior Inspector Kathleen F. Pebojot of Cagayan de Oro City Regional Headquarters and Police Inspector Melisa Joy Pineda of Cagayan de Oro City Regional Mobile Group 10.

 

PNP Chief Superintendent Eith Ernald L. Singian, Deputy Director for Human Resource Management represented the PNP during the graduation ceremony.

 

In brief remarks during the ceremony, Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores congratulated all the graduates as well as thanked HuaQiao University and the Foreign and Chinese Affairs Office (FOCAO) for continuing to conduct the Chinese culture and Mandarin courses for ASEAN member countries’ government officials including police forces both as a means to strengthen relations between China and ASEAN as well as enhance people-to-people contacts between the countries.

 

Consul General Flores underscored that the Consulate General will take up the challenge to pursue with HuaQiao University the need to increase Philippine participation in its future Chinese culture and language programs, in as much as these provide a meaningful role in generating friendship and understanding among our countries and peoples.

 

Consul General Flores also mentioned that the Consulate General in Xiamen is celebrating this year the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China and the Consulate General’s 20th anniversary of its establishment and in view of these milestone events, the Consulate General have calendared commemorative activities such as the donation of Philippine publications to academic institutions in Fujian Province including HuaQiao University to strengthen cultural relations between the peoples of the Philippines and Fujian Province.

 

The Consulate General will pursue collaborative undertakings with HuaQiao University including increasing Philippine participation in its programs, among others. END
