FORMER HOUSE SPEAKER DE VENECIA GIFTS XIAMEN PCG
WITH A DE VENECIA PAINTING FOR ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY
Former Speaker Jose De Venecia gifted the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen with an original art work in commemoration of its 20th anniversary of its establishment.
Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores conveyed Post’s appreciation to Speaker de Venecia who reminisced that it was during his speakership that Congress passed the budget allocation for the opening of the Consulate General.
The painting, which was done by his wife, Congresswoman Gina P. de Venecia, was handed over personally to Consul General Flores during Speaker de Venecia’s brief visit to Xiamen. Congresswoman de Venecia’s painting, dated 2008, is a colorful rendition of a basket of blooming flowers.
The former Speaker made a short stop-over in Xiamen while on his way to Beijing to address the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP)’s Special Conference from 14 to 16 October 2015. He is ICAPP’s Founding Chairman and Chairman of its Standing Committee. END
