The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen has intensified its Overseas Voters (OV) Registration campaign through outreach activities with the Filipino communities in Fujian and Jiangxi Provinces. Led by Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores, the Consulate General undertook OV registration at the Manila-Xiamen International School (MXIS) in Xiamen City and at SM City in Jinjiang City, both in Fujian Province on 10 and 11 October 2015, respectively, and at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province from 24-25 October 2015. Nine (9) teachers at MXIS, thirty three (33) OFWs in Jinjiang City and seventeen (17) OFWs in Nanchang City, for a total of 59 overseas voters, were registered.

The Consulate General undertook the mobile OV registration despite having already surpassed its target of 100 new OV registrants to encourage overseas Filipinos to participate in the 2016 elections. As of 28 October 2015, a total of 211 OFWs have already registered for overseas voting.

Consul General Flores thanked all the Filipinos for their support and cooperation to the OV registration activities and also underscored the importance of exercising their right of suffrage in the 2016 national elections.

Consul General Flores was assisted by the Consulate General’s OV Secretariat and other Consulate General staff members. END
