Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores recently turned over to Xiamen Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs (FOCAO) Deputy Director General (DDG) Li Xiaoping an original painting, info board and postcards to mark the first annual celebration of Cebu-Xiamen Friendship Day on October 26.
The painting was done by Filipino visual artist and Manila-Xiamen International School (MXIS) Art teacher, Mr. Rodel P. Bautista. It depicts the warm and friendly handshake between a Filipino and a local friend, both garbed in Philippine and Chinese costumes.
The painting is immortalized in the info-board and postcards for dissemination to Post’s contacts and the general public under its jurisdiction.
Consul General Flores remarked that the painting symbolizes the long standing and cordial ties between the cities of Cebu and Xiamen and assured DDG Li of the Consulate General’s continued support and cooperation to further enhancing relations between the two cities through cooperation programs, particularly involving economic/trade and cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
Deputy Director General Li expressed appreciation for this latest gesture of goodwill from the Consulate General and echoed Consul General Flores’ sentiments on strengthening relations between Cebu and Xiamen cities. He also mentioned that the painting will be provided an appropriate location at the FOCAO building in Xiamen. END
