Philippine Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores recently visited on 26 November 2015, Flago Coffee Factory in Quanzhou City, a company that imports its coffee bean requirements from the Philippines, Malaysia, India, and Brazil. The factory is owned and managed by Mr. Michael Co, a Philippine Christian University (PCU)-educated Chinese businessman. His elder brother, Mr. Jaime Co, is the proprietor/manager of Biogen Pharma a pharmaceutical company doing business in the Philippines for several years now.
Consul General Flores led the Consulate General’s delegation which was given a tour of Flago company’s coffee processing and packaging plant. The facility packages 25 tons a day of different coffee-related products which are distributed to several outlets all over China that generates to a gross monthly income of RMB 70 million (US$11 million).
Consul General Flores cited the excellent entrepreneurial skills of the Co brothers, particularly Mr. Micahel Co, whose factory contributes to the economic development of the Philippines by importing Philippine coffee for the Chinese market. Furthermore, Consul General Flores also expressed appreciation for the Co’s continued desire to invest in the Philippines and assured them of the Consulate General’s support and assistance.
The Consulate General helped promote Flago coffee products during the opening of the 2nd Philippine Food Festival held at C&D Hotel last 03 October in Xiamen. END
