Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores recently met with Mr. Steve Lu, Director/General Manager of Xiamen En Rich Co., Ltd., a company engaged in import/export of a variety of products, including raw semi-precious stones (pearl, jade), wood (hardwood, scented wood, antique and salvaged woods), marine products (fish, crabs, shrimps and lobsters) and other agricultural products (remote-controlled airplanes used for large scale fertilizing agricultural lands). The company has business transactions in the Philippines, Argentina, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Afghanistan.
Mr. Lu invited Consul General Flores to visit his company’s showroom with the aim of improving ties with the Consulate General and enhancing his company’s business activities in the Philippines. Mr. Lu’s company imports raw pearls from Davao and Dumaguete Cities where his sister is currently residing and is married to a local Filipino-Chinese. Mr. Lu traces his roots in the Philippines because his mother was born in the Philippines to a Chinese father and Filipino mother. They both visit the younger Lu in Dumaguete regularly.
Consul General Flores expressed appreciation for Mr. Lu’s invitation to visit the company’s showroom in Xiamen. Mr. Lu was assured of the Consulate General’s support and assistance in his desire to expand his business dealings in the Philippines and suggested various activities, including a visit to the Philippine economic zones, meetings with his Filipino counterparts in the agriculture and import/export industries, and other people-to-people contact activities to further enhance economic and trade ties between the Philippines and Fujian-based businessmen.
