Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores attended the 2016 Spring Festival Briefing conducted by Mr. Wang Menghui, Party Chief of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Xiamen Municipal Committee at the C&D International Convention Center on 05 February 2016. The gathering was attended by more than 600 dignitaries including Xiamen municipal government officials, CPC party members, business leaders and members of the Fujian Consular Corps.

Mr. Wang cited the developments and progress achieved by Xiamen City in 2015, particularly with the implementation of the “Beautiful Xiamen” Development Strategy, which included comprehensive reforms that effectively advanced the transformation of industrial, urban and social developments by pursuing the strategic thrusts of the Chinese Central Government to facilitate faster development in Fujian Province and Xiamen City.

Mr. Wang cited that Xiamen’s economy gained a fast and sound momentum in 2015, which placed it in the lead, in the province and nationwide. Xiamen’s 2015 GDP registered RMB346.6 billion, up by 7.2%. The total fixed asset investments grew by 20.6%. The total fiscal revenue surpassed RMB100 billion, also up by 10.2%. The growth rate to local fiscal revenue reached 11.5%, ranking among the top cities in Fujian province. Xiamen City also achieved the annual targets of energy conservation and emission reduction, obtaining second place in air quality among cities in China.

For the first month of 2016, Xiamen’s economy began with its continued stellar growth and progress with GDP growing 11.2%, total fiscal revenue at 15.9%, local fiscal revenue at 15.5%, fixed asset investment at 24% and contractual FDI at 11.5%. END
