Philippine Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores attended the launching of the book entitled “Light Touch” a collection of essays in Mandarin by Ms. Sylvia Huang of Quanzhou City, Fujian Province and currently Director of China News Services – Manila.
Miss Huang’s book chronicled her life experiences which have been published in Chinese publications in the Philippines. Ms. Huang is a long-term resident of the Philippines and has raised two children during her 20-years stay in Manila.
In his remarks during the launching ceremony, the undersigned congratulated Miss Huang and wished her more success in her journalistic career as well as literary endeavors. He cited that the book serves to strengthen ties between the Philippines and Fujian Province, which have shared long historical and cultural ties linking our two peoples together. He also expressed hope that the book could be translated in English for wider readership including Filipinos and recommended that a copy be donated to the Bahay Pagkaisa/ Tsinoy Museum in Manila.
The ceremony was also attended by Quanzhou City government officials led by Mr. Wen Jinhui, Deputy Director of Quanzhou Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (FOCAO), and Mr. Shi Yang Yi, Vice Chairman, The Returned Overseas Chinese Association of Quanzhou, Quanzhou Literary Society, the academe and Miss Huang’s relatives and friends.
