Dr. Raul M. Sunico, President, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and Dean, Conservatory of Music, University of Sto. Tomas (UST) successfully held his debut concert in Xiamen City as one of the highlights of the commemoration of the 118th Anniversary of Proclamation of Philippine Independence held at the Kempinski Hotel in Xiamen City on 22 June 2015

Fujian Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) Deputy Director General Wang Tianming led more than 400 guests from Fujian Foreign Affairs Office (FAO), Xiamen, Jinjiang, Quanzhou and Shishi Cities Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (FOCAO) officials, members of the Fujian diplomatic corps, Filipino-Chinese businessmen in Fujian province and Filipino community leaders, academe, students from Xiamen University, the media and Post’s official contacts.

In his brief remarks, Consul General Julius Caesar Flores expressed appreciation to the large crowd of guests who witnessed the Xiamen debut of Dr. Sunico. It was underscored that the musical event forms part of Post’s cultural diplomacy thrusts to bring to Xiamen (as well as Post’s jurisdiction) world-class Filipino artists and talents.

The concert entitled “An Enchanting Evening of Music and Magic” offered a mixed repertoire of classics (Russian, German, Polish, Filipino) as well as contemporary pieces (Filipino, Chinese, American) to the great delight of the audience. END
