Consul General Julius Caesar Flores, along with the Consulate General’s officials recently visited Allied Fashion Gloves factory in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province and met with its General Manager, Ms. Lorna Tan, and her team of Filipino managers.
Consul General Flores commended Ms. Tan and her Filipino co-workers for their dedication and determination to work as expatriates in a foreign country under another foreign firm, ably demonstrating the world-class caliber and reputation of Filipino workers. Ms. Tan herself rose from the ranks starting as an accountant until she rose up the company ladder to become the company’s General Manager.
The company, which has currently 600 employees, including the Filipinos in managerial and supervisory positions, manufactures and produces at least 100,000 dozen pairs of fashion, sports and winter gloves, ear muffs and fur hats for companies such as The North Face, UGG, Croft&Barrow, FownFownes, and Macy’s in the United States, to name a few.
The company also has a sister company, Pulido Fashion Gloves with factories in Batangas province in the Philippines (San Luis, Lipa City, Bauan and soon to open in Calaca) which produces more “high-end” gloves for the Japanese, Russian, US and European markets.
Allied Fashion Gloves is a US company in Fujian province and among the earliest foreign firms to operate at the onset of the establishment of Xiamen as an economic zone. Allied began operations in Xiamen City in 1986 (originally under the company name Amoy fashion) and moved to Zhangzhou City in 1997 with its current company name.
Consul General Flores also expressed that Ms. Tan and her Filipino Team continue to do their excellent work at Allied Fashions as well as enjoined them to participate in Filipino community activities in Xiamen or elsewhere in Fujian. END
