Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores successfully led a team from the Nanyang (Southeast Asian) Institute of Xiamen University to promote the latter’s International Studies graduate programs and grants to students and faculty members of selected universities in Manila from 16 to 19 August 2016. The Team was warmly received by university officials and faculty members.

The Tour forms part of the Consulate General’s cultural diplomacy thrusts to enhance people-to-people contacts as well as contribute to the nurturing of relations between the Philippines and Fujian on one hand and on the other, the Philippines and China.

The Tour generated enthusiasm and interest from a total of 1,500 participants who attended the “Forum on Xiamen University’s Nanyang Institute Graduate Programs and Grants for International Studies” held at the Lyceum of the Philippines University/College of International Relations and Diplomacy,  University of Santo Tomas (UST)/Asian Studies Department, University of the East (UE)-Manila/International Studies Department, Philippine Women’s University (PWU)/HBZ School of International Relations and Diplomacy and Philippine Normal University (PNU)/Social Science Department.

The Tour also provided the valuable opportunity for Nanyang Institute to explore institutional cooperation and linkages with the Manila universities, including exchange of professors and accredited student programs.

The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), the Philippine East China Association (PECA), Mr. Kenhuay Tan and Ms. Anna Sy, provided local hospitality to the Team’s visit in Manila.

Chinatown TV, the Consulate General’s media partner, covered the event which was aired on IBC 13. END
