The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen reports that Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores attended the official launching ceremony of Xiamen Star TV Southeast Asian Studio in Xiamen University - Malaysia campus via live satellite feed at the 400 sqm-HD Studio, Xiamen Media Group Building, Xiamen City on 25 October 2016.

The launching ceremony led by Mr. Shen Yiqi, Chairman of Xiamen Media Group and Mr. Dongwei Lin, Deputy Chairman of Xiamen University Council, was also attended by the Consuls General of Thailand and Singapore and other distinguished guests and media representatives. Xiamen Star TV interfaced with its Malaysian counterpart and broadcasted live.

Xiamen Star TV also interviewed Consul General Flores who expressed gratitude for their dedicated programs that will help contribute in projecting ASEAN countries in Fujian and elsewhere in China. He expressed the hope that Xiamen Star TV could be able to help project the Philippines in Fujian as well as throughout the ASEAN region.

The Southeast Asia Subsidiary of Xiamen Star TV Station was set up in Malaysia in August 2016 which focuses on the latest cultural, economic and social developments of southeast Asian countries as well as those countries covered by China’s “One Belt & One Road” initiatives.

Xiamen Star TV was officially launched in 2005 as the first satellite channel featuring Fujian and Taiwan cultures on the Chinese Mainland. In 2013, it has become available in nine provinces and cities across China including Beijing, Shanghai and Fujian and covering Asia, Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan region.
