Xiamen Airlines inaugurated its Quanzhou (Jinjiang) – Cebu flight at Quanzhou (Jinjiang) International Airport on 10 April 2017, and will fly the route, twice weekly, every Monday and Friday.

Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores led the inaugural ceremony at the airport’s tarmac which was also attended by Quanzhou City, airport, Xiamen Air and Xiamen Air Travel officials and representatives. Consul General Flores was the lone VIP guest who joined the flight from Jinjiang City International Airport to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) marking its inaugural air link between the two cities.

In an interview conducted by local radio and TV media, Consul General Flores highlighted that in many occasions all airlines were encouraged to open more air links between the Philippines and Fujian to enhance economic, trade, tourism and people-to-people contacts between the Philippines and China.

Consul General Flores conveyed appreciation to Xiamen Air for heeding the call toward this end and reiterated Consulate General’s support to help promote its destinations to the Philippines.

This is Xiamen Air’s second air link between Fujian and Cebu since it launched its Xiamen-Cebu flight (3x weekly) in March 2016. Xiamen Air will also launch its Fuzhou-Cebu route in April 2017. This marks the fourth air link between the Philippines and Jinjiang.

Upon arrival at the MCIA, a simple ribbon-and-cake cutting ceremony was held and attended by DOT-Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City officials, Xiamen Air executives, crew and staff.

Xiamen Air is one of Consulate General’s valuable airline partners in its economic diplomacy thrusts including promotion of the Philippines as a tourist destination to the Fujian/China market particularly as a contribution to increasing Chinese tourist arrivals in the Philippines as part of the Visit the Philippines 2017 campaign END
