Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores accompanied Dr. Raul Sunico, former President of Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and a world-renowned pianist for a courtesy call on Xiamen University’s Arts College officials in Xiamen City on 13 July 2017. 

Consul General Flores and Dr. Sunico were warmly received by its Vice Dean, Professor Chen Shuhua, representing Arts College Dean Su Li, expressed appreciation to the Consulate General for its efforts in facilitating the visit of Dr. Sunico to Xiamen University to enhance cultural cooperation and exchanges between the Philippines and Fujian province.

Dr. Sunico is currently in Xiamen upon the invitation of the Arts College to conduct a master’s piano class and as a participant of its Second Chamber Music Festival 2017. Presently, the Arts College has several hundred students majoring in piano.  Under the framework of an exchange program with the Arts College, there are also other visiting professors from other foreign universities, among others, from the US and Europe. Dr. Sunico is the first and lone participant from Southeast Asia.

As part of its cultural diplomacy thrusts for 2017, the Consulate General facilitated the exchange program between Xiamen University’s Arts College and Dr. Sunico to conduct a piano workshop as well as to stage concerts in Xiamen END
