A Philippine media delegation paid a courtesy call on Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores at the Consulate General’s Bulwagang Bayan/Heroes Hall on 17 July 2017 as part of their familiarization tour of Fujian province organized by Chinese media authorities.

The delegation was warmly received by Consul General Flores and was given a briefing on the many facets of the Consulate General’s work, including the various highlights undertaken by the Consulate General since 2014 to the present, under its political, cultural and economic diplomacy thrusts.

It was underscored to the delegation that the Philippines and Fujian Province share deep historical, kinship and cultural links noting that 90% of overseas Chinese in the Philippines trace their ancestral roots in Fujian Province, including Dr. Jose P. Rizal’s ancestors, Cojuangco clan and a host of “taipans” who have made immense contributions to the shaping of the Filipino nation.

The delegation, transiting in Xiamen following its official visit in Beijing, China, comprised of members of different media organizations in the Philippines. The delegation members expressed optimism on the relations of the Philippines and China and looked forward to enhance further mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries END
