Dr. Raul Sunico, former President of Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and a world-renowned pianist, upon the invitation of Xiamen University’s Arts College, conducted a master’s piano class and concert from 13 - 17 July 2017. 

Dr. Sunico was warmly received by Arts College’s officials and students led by its Dean, Professor Su Li, who expressed appreciation to Consulate General for its efforts in facilitating the visit of Dr. Sunico to enhance cultural cooperation and exchanges between the Philippines and Fujian province.

Dr. Sunico conducted one-on-one sessions with 20 piano major students who were given individualized teaching and guidance to hone their skills and artistry.

To highlight the exchange program, Dr. Sunico successfully performed a piano concert held at its Concert Hall on 15 July 2017 as a participation in the Second Chamber Music Festival 2017 which served as the Consulate General’s tribute to the Gulangyu/Piano Island’s recent declaration as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores and Dean Su Li were among the more than 400 university officials, students and guests who were mesmerized by Dr. Sunico’s virtuoso performance with a diverse repertoire which included masterpieces from Liszt, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Gershwin END
