As part of the Consulate General’s commemoration of the ASEAN 50th Founding Anniversary, Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores made courtesy calls and presented commemorative items (coins and stamps, etc.) to local government and/or Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (FOCAO) officials in Fujian.
The presentation of the commemorative items provided valuable opportunities for the Consulate General to devise collaborative undertakings that would enhance friendship, understanding and cooperation as well as help promote greater awareness of the ASEAN and the Philippine Chairship in 2017 with government authorities in its area of jurisdiction.

Director General Li Xiaoping of the Xiamen Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (Xiamen FOCAO) met with Consul General Flores on 11 August 2017 at its office in Xiamen City.
During the brief meeting, DG Li expressed appreciation for the Consulate General’s kind gesture and expressed its continuous support in further enhancing friendship and cooperation as well as promoting the Philippines and ASEAN in Xiamen City.

Consul General Flores was warmly received by Mr. Wen Jinhui, Director General, Foreign Affairs & Overseas Chinese Affairs Office HK & Macau Affairs Office of Quanzhou Municipal People’s Government on 24 August 2017.
Mr. Wen, expressed appreciation for the visit and warmly appreciated the commemorative items.
Furthermore, Mr. Wen conveyed Quanzhou City’s keen desire to pursue forging a twinning partnership with a Philippine city. Consul General Flores proposed Iloilo City and provided a brief background for Quanzhou City’s consideration.

Mr. Jianjun Chen, Director General of the Overseas Chinese, Taiwanese and Foreign Affairs Bureau (OCTFAB) of the Jinjiang Municipal People’s Government warmly received Consul General Flores during the visit to Jinjiang City.
Further during the meeting, Consul General Flores was able to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations including the proposed visit to Calamba City in December 2017 on the proposed twinning of the two cities initiated by the Consulate General as part of its cultural diplomacy thrusts.

Hon. Zhi Juan Lin, Vice Mayor of Shishi Municipal People’s Government warmly welcomed Consul General Flores. Vice Mayor Lin also expressed appreciation for the visit and conveyed the Shishi Government’s continued support to Consulate General’s work in strengthening bilateral relations between the Philippines and China.
Consul General Flores and Vice Mayor Lin agreed to further strengthen its ties on future collaborative undertakings. Vice Mayor Lin is visiting Manila in October 2017 as guest of the Shishi Junior High School Alumni Association (Phil).
