Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen and Dr. Ester Garcia, UE President, led guests, faculty members and students at the launching of the Photo Exhibit, “Beauty of Fujian” on 9 October 2017 at the Dalupan Lobby of the University of the East  (UE) campus in Manila.

Dr. Zosimo Battad, Chancellor of UE-Caloocan and Dr. William Co, Honorary Consul to Namibia were the other VIP guests who attended the opening with a brief program.

The photo exhibit showcases the impressions of Fujian (China) province’s scenes and sights as documented by Foto-Grupo, a group of Filipino photo hobbyists based in Fujian.

UE-Manila gained the singular distinction of being the first academic institution in the Philippines to host the exhibition with the objective of promoting and mainstreaming Fujian to the general public in the Philippines, specially the youth sector.

The exhibit forms part of the pioneering initiative of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, Fujian, China under its cultural diplomacy thrusts for 2017 and beyond. It was initially showcased in Xiamen at the Philippine Consulate General’s Gallery, then at Robinson’s Mall-Xiamen in March 2017 and later at the Department of Foreign Affairs in May 2017.
