The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully launched the Philippine Christmas Carol Festival in cooperation with SM Xiamen and the Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) held at SM Xiamen Lifestyle Center on 08 December 2017.
The Festival is a Consulate General’s initiative under its cultural diplomacy thrusts and Gender and Development (GAD) programs in celebration of Month of Overseas Filipinos (MOF) and International Migrant Workers Day, with special tribute to Filipino teachers of MXIS.
To the great delight of guests, contacts as well as evening shoppers, the MXIS Choir of students performed a repertoire of popular Filipino and foreign Christmas songs. The Festival helped promote Philippine culture through its Christmas traditions to the general public in Xiamen as well as provided an avenue in paying tribute to the Overseas Filipinos in Xiamen in recognition of their valuable contributions to the Philippine development as well as to Fujian/China.
Philippine Consul General to Xiamen Julius Caesar A. Flores expressed appreciation to SM Xiamen and its Management Team for hosting the Festival and MXIS Choir for their valuable support and contribution to the successful staging of the Festival.
The Consulate General presented certificates of appreciation to Filipino teachers of MXIS in recognition of their valuable contribution to education and who provide a great source of pride and inspiration to the Filipino community in Xiamen and environs. The Consulate General hosted dinner for the honorees afterwards.
