The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen officially launched its calendar project for 2018 on the “Beauty of Fujian” as part of its cultural diplomacy thrusts and in line with the celebration of Philippine National Arts Month 2018 on 10 February 2018 in Xiamen City.
The calendar project is a collection of first-hand impressions of different locations in Fujian province documented by “Foto-Grupo”, a group of Filipino photo hobbyists based in Fujian which was organized by the Consulate General under its cultural diplomacy program.
The Calendar provides a valuable promotional tool of Fujian to the Philippines which is regarded as the ancestral roots of 90% of overseas Chinese in the Philippines highlighting the close bonds of history, kinship, trade and culture between the Philippines and Fujian.
The calendar photos, together with the rest of the photo collection, form part of the photo exhibition on the “Beauty of Fujian” which have been exhibited in Xiamen, Manila and Cebu in selected venues.
The Consulate General commenced handing out the calendars to its official contacts and friends in Fujian and China as well as DFA and other Philippine Government officials last December 2017.
Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores expressed appreciation to Foto-Grupo, comprising of Messrs. Dan Osillos, Bong Antivola, Dixx Gatpo and Cocoy Declaro for their passion and creativity in photography, for their valuable contribution in the production of the calendar as well as helping promote Philippine contemporary art and talent.
The Calendar project is a Consulate General’s initiative under its cultural diplomacy thrusts with the valuable support of the Filipino-Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (FCGCCI) – Youth Committee, Tawid Heritage Center and Mr. George Go.
