The China International Travel Services-Global (CITS-Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Port Holdings Group Co., Ltd. officially launched on 08 March the 1st “Belt and Road” Southeast Asian cruise tour at the Xiamen International Cruise Home Port.
The event was attended by Philippine Consul General to Xiamen Julius Caesar A. Flores, Singapore Consul General Chi Chew Sum, Xiamen Tourism Development Commission Deputy Director General Mr. Zhong Hailin, Xiamen Port Holdings Group Co., Ltd Vice General Manager Mr. Cai Siwei, COSTA Cruise China Co. Sales and Marketing Vice President Mr. Ye Peng, CITS Global (Beijing) President Mr. Zeng Xu, Xiamen FOCAO Deputy Director Mr. Cheng Ming and representatives from the Xiamen Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, the Police and the media.
The 15-day cruise will sail from Xiamen Port passing through six (6) Southeast Asian countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Consul General Flores highlighted the vital contribution of cruise tourism to the tourism industry of Southeast Asia, mentioning that the Philippines’ own cruise tourism industry flourished by 2,000% in early 2018. During the 2018 Spring Festival, Chinese tourists made Southeast Asia a top destination.
Consul General Flores also assured that the Philippines will continue to work with industry partners in China as well as welcome Chinese tourists visiting the Philippines with its renowned hospitality and exciting destinations.
