The Philippines successfully participated in the China (Xiamen) International Leisure Tourism Expo (CILTE) held on 20-22 April 2018.

The Philippines held a separate Tourism Presentation at the Great China Hall, Kempinski Hotel on 19 April 2018 as part of its tourism promotion campaign in Fujian province.

In his remarks, Consul General Flores highlighted the increasing tourist arrivals in the Philippines particularly in the cruise tourism industry and noted that the Philippines offers several world-class destinations including Palawan. He also recognized the contributions of the Philippine government’s partners in its tourism promotion campaign, including the travel and tour operators, airlines and cruise lines.

Philippine Tourism Attaché to Shanghai, Mr Rene Reyes, delivered a comprehensive presentation of the Philippine government’s tourism campaign. He mentioned that in 2017, China, with 968,447 tourists, became the second largest number of tourist market for the Philippines, which is expected to surpass the one million mark in 2018. He also promoted the Philippines other top destinations for 2018 such as Palawan, Davao, Iloilo (including the Island of Guimaras), and Cebu.

He added that promotional efforts will be intensified for new/improved products to enhance the Philippines’ attraction as an exciting and popular destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), Cruise, Diving, Education, Global Medical, Farm and Agri-Tourism.

Mrs. Hermana Luengo, President, Puerto Princesa Tourism Council (PPTC), also delivered a brief presentation, highlighting Palawan’s natural tourist attractions and amenities as well as the services her company offers to tourists, including tour packages.

Representatives from other sectors, including Philippine Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Genting and COSTA Cruise Lines, and CITS also made their respective presentations.

At the CILTE, a Philippine booth was set up that provided promotional materials, direct marketing, and entertainment areas for buyers and the general public. Industry partners including Philippine Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Genting and COSTA cruise lines actively engaged the general public with information materials and packaged products.

The Sindaw Dance Group became a regular entertainment feature of the Philippine booth which delighted many crowds. Sindaw also performed during the welcome reception hosted by C&D Travel.
