Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores led a contingent of Window of East Asia Cultural and Creative Industry Park officials (representing Zhonglang and Zhongqiao Groups from Quanzhou City, Fujian) in visiting Manila from 28 – 31 August 2018 which was highlighted by an inter-agency meeting with the public sector held at the DFA Asia Pacific Affairs Conference Room on 28 August 2018.
Mr. Huang Yunti, Chairman and Mr. Dennis Kwok, Executive Director/Vice-Chairman of Zhonglang Group Co., Ltd. joined Consul General Flores for the visit in Manila to present to both the public and private sectors the Park, particularly the proposed Philippine Pavilion which will serve as a platform to promote the Philippines in China as well as contribute to the nurturing and strengthening of Philippine-Fujian-China relations.
The Consulate General considers the recent inter-agency meeting as the first initial step in introducing the Philippine Pavilion project to the public sector in the Philippines regarded by the Park officials as valuable partners in promoting the Philippines in China.
The “Park” in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, China, occupying a sprawling area of 35,000 sq.m. in old Quanzhou, is a joint collaboration of Quanzhou City Government and its private sector partners, Zhonglang and Zhongqiao Groups which will provide a valuable and dynamic platform for East Asian countries—China, Japan, Korea and the Philippines-to promote their respective history, culture, trade and people-to-people contacts.
The Philippine Pavilion, which will occupy 2,183.33 sq.m., is expected to be launched in early 2019. It is envisioned to showcase to the general public the rich history, vibrant culture as well as unique and quality Philippine products and provide a permanent venue for cultural performances, business, and other promotional events throughout the year.
During the brief visit in Manila, the contingent also met with the private sector led by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (FFCCCII), the Filipino-Chinese General Chamber – Youth Committee, the Philippine Xiamen Business Chamber and Philippine-Sino Friendship Association officials.
