The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen commemorated the Cebu-Xiamen Friendship Day 2018 with a symbolic turn-over of publications donated by the Xiamen Municipal Library and Xiamen International Book Co., Ltd. to the Cebu City Public Library on 19 October 2018 under the framework of Cebu-Xiamen Sister City Partnership.

The publications were turned over by Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores to Hon. Margarita V. Osmeña, Cebu City Councilor and Chairperson of Cebu City Sister Cities Commission (CCSCC) in a simple ceremony at the City Library. The publications will form part of the City Library’s dedicated Chinese Corner.

Councilor Osmeña welcomed the gesture of Xiamen City which she viewed will contribute to furthering the knowledge of the Cebuanos of China.

The Consulate General believes the publications will enhance the City Library’s Chinese Corner which would provide a valuable venue for the general reading public to obtain a greater appreciation and understanding of China thereby contribute to the nurturing of Cebu-Xiamen partnership as well as Philippine-Fujian-China relations.

The Consulate General will explore soon possible collaboration between Cebu and Xiamen City libraries as part of its cultural diplomacy thrusts under the framework of the Cebu-Xiamen sister city partnership
